Compliance

Compliance, disclosures, and limitations.

Trust is the entire product. Below is exactly what we do, what we don't do, and the rules we hold ourselves to.

What Owedio is
  • Software service that helps users find, prepare, and track claims for money they may be owed.
  • Free scan + structured claim packet generation.
  • User-controlled at every step.
What Owedio is NOT
  • Not a law firm. We do not provide legal advice or representation.
  • Not a government agency.
  • Not a public adjuster.
  • Not a debt collector or financial advisor.

What we do not do

  • We do not represent you legally.
  • We do not negotiate on your behalf.
  • We do not file claims without your approval.
  • We do not hold or transfer recovered money — the agency or settlement administrator pays you directly.
  • We do not sell your personal data, ever.

Source disclaimers

Matches are based on public records and statistical inference. "Possible match" never means guaranteed money. Always verify on the official source page before filing. Owedio does not have privileged access to source databases — we index publicly available data and surface high-confidence overlaps with your inputs.

Filing deadlines, payout ranges, and eligibility criteria for class action settlements are sourced from each settlement administrator's public records. We do our best to keep these current, but the official settlement page is always authoritative.

No fee-sharing

During our June beta program, verification is offered free of charge — we don't share fees with lawyers or claim funders, and we never take a percentage of recovered funds. This aligns with the ABA Model Rule 5.4 spirit on professional independence — we have no financial incentive to encourage a specific outcome.

If we ever introduce a percentage-based offering in the future, it would be clearly disclosed at the time of engagement and would only apply to a separate concierge offering with explicit written agreement — never the standard self-service flow.

Class action filings

Owedio is not a settlement administrator. We help users discover and apply to open settlements. Eligibility is determined by the settlement administrator, not by Owedio. Our eligibility checker uses the criteria published by the administrator and renders them as a yes/no quiz — it cannot bind the administrator's decision.

Identity & SSN policy

The free scan never requires your SSN. If a specific claim requires SSN verification (e.g., IRS refunds), that data is collected only at the moment of claim approval, encrypted at rest, and never used for any other purpose. We do not warehouse SSNs.

Refund & cancellation

You can cancel a packet before clicking Approve — no claim is submitted until you sign. Nothing is filed without your explicit approval.

Contact us for compliance questions

If you have a compliance, regulatory, or legal-process inquiry, contact us via the Concierge form. We respond within 1 business day.

Owedio is not a government agency. Owedio helps users search, prepare, and track claims. We never file on your behalf without explicit approval, and money from any claim goes directly to you from the originating agency.
