Frequently asked
Answers, before you ask.
Real questions from real Owedio users. If your question isn't here, talk to Concierge for a free consultation.
Owedio is a legitimate software service. We surface money you may already be owed by official sources (state treasuries, IRS, settlement administrators). We never ask for your SSN to scan, and money from any claim goes directly to you from the source — not through Owedio.
Yes. During our June beta program, verification is completely free. We ask for a referral if we help you recover money.
Our team reviews your potential matches with you, helps verify which look legitimate, and walks you through the next steps for the ones worth pursuing. The call is 15 minutes.
We're prioritizing high-touch beta calls so we can learn what works. After the beta we'll add async options.

No. The free scan only needs your name and address history. If you choose to file a specific claim, the source agency may ask for additional identity documents — those are submitted directly to them as part of the claim packet, never stored long-term by Owedio.
Every match shows a confidence score (60-98%) and a plain-language explanation of why we flagged it. Below 55% confidence, we don't surface the result at all. A match is always a 'possible match' — final determination is made by the source agency.
Unclaimed property is often tied to addresses where you used to live. State treasuries surface records by name + address overlap, so prior addresses dramatically improve match quality.
Yes. The agency or settlement administrator pays you directly — typically by check mailed to your current address. Owedio never holds, transfers, or touches your recovered funds.
No. Owedio is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice or court representation. We help you discover, prepare, and track claims you file yourself. If you need legal representation, contact a licensed attorney in your state.
If your match appears valid, we prepare a claim packet (cover letter, pre-filled forms, required-documents checklist, filing instructions) and walk you through it. Nothing is filed without your approval — you submit the packet to the agency yourself.
It varies by source. Federal tax refunds: ~3-6 weeks. State treasuries: 60-180 days. Class action settlements: 6-18 months from filing deadline. Owedio surfaces an expected timeline on every claim packet.
The agency may request additional documentation, or determine the record doesn't match. Owedio will surface the denial reason in the tracking timeline. You can re-apply with additional documentation if the agency permits.
All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We never sell your data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
A class action settlement is a legal resolution where a company pays a fund to consumers who were affected by a specific issue. Owedio surfaces open settlements matched to your profile, runs an eligibility check on each, and (if you choose) helps you prepare the official claim packet — included free during the beta.
Concierge is for complex situations or recoveries over $10,000 — multiple sources, unusual circumstances, time-sensitive deadlines. A dedicated specialist handles the entire investigation end-to-end. Custom pricing, never a percentage of recovery.
Owedio scans across all 50 U.S. states and federal agencies. We currently support U.S. residents only — international users won't have records to match against in our sources.
